LG3 Compliance

LG3 compliance indicates that the lighting solution for a room meets the recommendations set out in the CIBSE Lighting Guide (including LG3 addendum 2001). This document recommends that the peak and average luminance do not exceed specified levels, the luminance should vary gradually across the surface and that there are no excessively bright or dark patches.

The following recomendations should be met:

• The average luminance on any surface lit directly should not exceed 500cd/m².
• The average wall illuminance should be at least 50% of the average working plane illuminance.
• The average ceiling illuminance should be at least 30% of the average working plane illuminance.
